A new report claims that The Batman production has been a gruelling process so far for leading star Robert Pattinson.

It’s no secret that Matt Reeves’ The Batman has had a difficult production so far, from being delayed due to the ongoing pandemic – to Robert Pattinson himself supposedly testing positive for COVID-19. But according to The Sun, filming the Caped Crusader’s new solo film has been gruelling for the star, because the director is feeling the pressure from the studio to deliver a worthy movie under the difficult current circumstances. But the outlet’s source also said Reeves’ perfectionism means Pattinson is doing upwards of 50 takes for certain scenes.

“Filming has been a gruelling process, especially for Robert, as Matt is such a perfectionist. He’ll insist on doing scenes over and over again and get bogged down in the tiny detail. Sometimes it’s like he doesn’t know when to stop. Matt has done blockbusters before, but this is another level. Batman is arguably the most popular superhero of all and by the time the film is released it will be the Dark Knight’s first solo movie in ten years.”

With long days shooting in a bulky costume, it isn’t surprising that Robert Pattinson is finding the production difficult. But the worry is that he’ll be worn out from the first film that a franchise won’t come to fruition because of the difficulties making the first film. The source pointed to Twilight as an example of the star becoming jaded with a big-budget franchise movie. Hopefully The Batman has plenty of room for the star to explore Bruce Wayne in new ways to keep him interested.

“Warner Bros can’t afford for the fanbase to be disappointed and have thrown £90million at the film. No one is denying that this is a high stakes production and that Matt is feeling the pressure to get it right. But Robert has had a tough time on these franchise movies before. He hated Twilight by the time it wrapped, and the last thing anyone wants is for him to become jaded.”

The Batman will also show off the hero using his skills as a detective more than what we’ve seen before in previous versions of the character. It is also expected to be the first installment in a new trilogy of films starring Pattinson.

Directed by Matt Reeves from a script he co-wrote with Mattson Tomlin, Robert Pattinson stars as the Caped Crusader, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.
