Robert Pattinson’s ‘The Batman’ Hits $128.5 Million In Opening Weekend Box Office

Vengeance brings in big numbers!

Robert Pattinson The Batman Opening Weekend Box Office

Robert Pattinson’s The Batman is making big money in its opening box office weekend.

After years of anticipation, Matt Reeves’ The Batman finally hit theaters this weekend. The film, which stars Robert Pattinson as the titular Caped Crusader hooked in an estimated $128.5 million at the domestic box office in its opening weekend.

This impressive showing from The Batman places it as the second-biggest box office opening weekend for a film since 2019 amidst the pandemic, right behind Spider-Man: No Way Home. Some analysts predict that the film could hit around $130 million in its final opening weekend tallies.

Among other things, The Batman hit a few other box office milestones. Some of those include being 2022’s biggest opening weekend thus far, the first Warner Bros. film to cross pass the $100 million mark in its opening weekend since 2017’s It, and the biggest opening for the studio since 2016’s Suicide Squad.

With mostly positive reviews from critics and audiences alike, along with minimal competition at the box office for much of March, the box office prospects for Robert Pattinson’s The Batman are pretty bright – a nice contrast from the darkness that is this vision of Gotham City. The numbers are also quite impressive given the film’s 176 minute runtime, which accounts for fewer showings at theaters compared to films of shorter length, as well as it being significantly darker than films with four-quadrant appeal such as Spider-Man: No Way Home, which attracts a more family-friendly demographic.

Here is the synopsis for Robert Pattinson’s The Batman:

Two years of stalking the streets as the Batman (Robert Pattinson), striking fear into the hearts of criminals, has led Bruce Wayne deep into the shadows of Gotham City. With only a few trusted allies — Alfred Pennyworth (Andy Serkis), Lt. James Gordon (Jeffrey Wright) — amongst the city’s corrupt network of officials and high-profile figures, the lone vigilante has established himself as the sole embodiment of vengeance amongst his fellow citizens.

When a killer targets Gotham’s elite with a series of sadistic machinations, a trail of cryptic clues sends the World’s Greatest Detective on an investigation into the underworld, where he encounters such characters as Selina Kyle/aka Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz), Oswald Cobblepot/aka the Penguin (Colin Farrell), Carmine Falcone (John Turturro), and Edward Nashton/aka the Riddler (Paul Dano). As the evidence begins to lead closer to home and the scale of the perpetrator’s plans becomes clear, Batman must forge new relationships, unmask the culprit, and bring justice to the abuse of power and corruption that has long plagued Gotham City.

Directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the titular hero, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.
