The Batman star Robert Pattinson might have just spoiled the villain for the upcoming sequel.

All eyes are on DC’s reboot of Batman. The film is not only a critical darling but is set to be a juggernaut at this weekend’s box office. Now that the film is (mostly) out all around the world, fans are flocking to cinemas to see just what the hype is about. And while the film succeeds as a self-contained story, those who have seen the film are looking forward to what’s next for The Batman.

Fans have been hoping for some time to see The Court of Owls make their appearance in a live-action Batman film. During the early days of The Batman’s production, many assumed that the terrifying group would show up in the Matt Reeves film but alas, there’s no conclusive proof that that’s the case. However, it looks like they could be in the sequel?

In a recent Vanity Fair interview with the cast of The Batman, Robert Pattinson let it slip that the villain for the upcoming sequel could be the Court of Owls. You can read the exchange between Pattinson, Zoe Kravitz, and Paul Dano below as they come to the conclusion that there’s a strong chance director Matt Reeves has plans for the iconic group.

Pattinson: “I was definitely kind of thinking Court of Owls is probably gonna be in the sequel.”
Dano: “Ooo, don’t say it.”
Pattinson: “It definitely seems like– I mean, I am literally just guessing, I just keep saying it.”
Dano: “Court of Owls would be dope. Good thing it’s not in this film.”
Kravitz: “Or is it?”
Dano: “Or is it?”

Here is the synopsis for Robert Pattinson’s DC debut in and as The Batman:

Two years of stalking the streets as the Batman (Robert Pattinson), striking fear into the hearts of criminals, has led Bruce Wayne deep into the shadows of Gotham City. With only a few trusted allies — Alfred Pennyworth (Andy Serkis), Lt. James Gordon (Jeffrey Wright) — amongst the city’s corrupt network of officials and high-profile figures, the lone vigilante has established himself as the sole embodiment of vengeance amongst his fellow citizens.

When a killer targets Gotham’s elite with a series of sadistic machinations, a trail of cryptic clues sends the World’s Greatest Detective on an investigation into the underworld, where he encounters such characters as Selina Kyle/aka Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz), Oswald Cobblepot/aka the Penguin (Colin Farrell), Carmine Falcone (John Turturro), and Edward Nashton/aka the Riddler (Paul Dano). As the evidence begins to lead closer to home and the scale of the perpetrator’s plans becomes clear, Batman must forge new relationships, unmask the culprit, and bring justice to the abuse of power and corruption that has long plagued Gotham City.

Directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the titular hero, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.

The Batman will hit theaters on March 4, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news on Colin Farrell’s upcoming Penguin series, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
