‘The Batman’: Robert Pattinson Roasts Zoe Kravitz For Not Having Seen Twilight

Don't hate on Twilight.

Robert Pattinson The Batman Opening Weekend Box Office

The Batman star Robert Pattinson has called out his co-star Zoe Kravitz for not having seen the Twilight films.

The Batman is finally set to arrive in cinemas later next week! Audiences have been eagerly awaiting Robert Pattinson’s performance as The Dark Knight ever since footage from the film was released. That wasn’t always the case, as general audiences slowly warmed up to the star’s casting as the most iconic superhero in the world. Prior to starring as Batman, Robert Pattinson established himself as an indie darling, working with adventurous directors on unique scripts to create films his contemporaries wouldn’t touch with a ten-foot pole. Before that meteoric rise as Hollywood’s go-to independent star? Twilight.

Robert Pattinson sprung onto the screen as Edward Cullen in the Twilight films. Maligned at the time of release, the vampire romantic-action films were panned for their wooden acting and mediocre writing. The franchise persisted as the butt of all jokes in the late 2000s and 2010s, but Pattinson has moved well beyond the franchise, reinventing himself as a leading man who takes calculated risks.

While the films may have been panned, Twilight was also one of the biggest cinematic hits at the time. The franchise continued to be widely popular and still holds a special place in pop culture history. This is all the more surprising when Robert Pattinson’s The Batman co-star Zoe Kravitz revealed she hadn’t seen the films. In a recent interview, Kravitz admitted that she had only seen the first film and didn’t have much recollection of it.

Robert Pattinson naturally roasted Zoe Kravitz, calling her out for “hating’ the franchise, saying “It’s not even cool to be a hater anymore,” before reminding her “That’s so 2010.” You can see the full exchange below.

Here is the synopsis for The Batman:

Two years of stalking the streets as the Batman (Robert Pattinson), striking fear into the hearts of criminals, has led Bruce Wayne deep into the shadows of Gotham City. With only a few trusted allies — Alfred Pennyworth (Andy Serkis), Lt. James Gordon (Jeffrey Wright) — amongst the city’s corrupt network of officials and high-profile figures, the lone vigilante has established himself as the sole embodiment of vengeance amongst his fellow citizens.

When a killer targets Gotham’s elite with a series of sadistic machinations, a trail of cryptic clues sends the World’s Greatest Detective on an investigation into the underworld, where he encounters such characters as Selina Kyle/aka Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz), Oswald Cobblepot/aka the Penguin (Colin Farrell), Carmine Falcone (John Turturro), and Edward Nashton/aka the Riddler (Paul Dano). As the evidence begins to lead closer to home and the scale of the perpetrator’s plans becomes clear, Batman must forge new relationships, unmask the culprit, and bring justice to the abuse of power and corruption that has long plagued Gotham City.

Directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the titular hero, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.
