Although he won’t reveal what it is, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story producer John Knoll says that he’s coming up with an idea for another Star Wars movie.
Screen Rant visited ILM as part of a press event commemorating the digital and home video release of Rogue One, and while they were there had a brief conversation with the company’s chief creative officer John Knoll. When asked about the future, Knoll commented that he’s actually in the process of trying to come up with a “cool” pitch for another Star Wars movie.
“I do have one more idea that I may or may not pitch. I’ve got it about [three-fourths of the way] figured out and if I can solve that last portion of it, I’ll see if [Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy is] interested. She may throw me out of her office.”
Knoll is an interesting case in that he’s spent much of his career as a visual effects supervisor, and that Rogue One represents the first time that he’s ever served as an executive producer for any project. Knoll’s pitch for Rogue One was strong enough that it convinced Kennedy to open the floodgates on several Star Wars spin-offs, so one can only imagine what this seemingly off-the-wall pitch for another Star Wars movie could inspire – and it makes us wonder if he’s on his way toward getting a second executive producer credit.
