‘Rogue One’ Spot Confirms New Trailer Thursday

Rogue One A Star Wars Story

Ever since the first trailer for ‘Rogue One’ was released in April and rocked the internet, fans have been clamoring for more. There was an impressive behind-the-scenes featurette from Star Wars Celebration that went online, and there was exclusive footage shown at Celebration, but that was never released to the public. Word on a new trailer has been surprisingly quiet, leaving many to wonder how long we’d have to wait to get another look at the hotly-anticipated film.

Luckily, the wait just got a lot shorter. A Rogue One TV spot aired during the Olympic Games Rio 2016 on NBC, and it ended with the words “New Trailer Thursday”. Shortly afterwards, the official Star Wars Twitter account confirmed that the new Rogue One trailer will premiere Thursday. You can see the tweet below.

So there you have it. The new Rogue One trailer will air during NBC’s Olympic coverage this upcoming Thursday, August 11th, and will presumably be available online soon after. The exact time of release is unknown. Hopefully, a certain Sith Lord dressed in black will appear. Get excited, everyone!

Following the foundation of the Galactic Empire, a wayward band of Rebel fighters come together to carry out a desperate mission: to steal the plans for the Death Star before it can be used to enforce the Emperor’s rule.

‘Rogue One’ stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, Ben Mendelsohn, Jiang Wen, Donnie Yen, Forest Whitaker, Alan Tudyk, and Mads Mikkelsen. It is directed by Gareth Edwards and will be released on December 16, 2016.
