Indeed, Ruben Fleischer’s schedule isn’t about to open up anytime soon. The director is hitting the circuit to promote Venom, which will swing into theaters in October, but he’s also got his eyes set on his next project, the sequel to 2009’s Zombieland. Indeed, we’ve gotten a bit of news recently in regards to Zombieland 2, even some production dates and word that the cast will be returning, but Fleischer, sitting down with Fandango, revealed that things will be up and running soon.
In a recent interview, Ruben Fleischer confirmed that he’s already started scouting locations for the Zombieland sequel, as well as storyboarding the movie. Once everything is settled, the movie should begin shooting in Georgia on January of next year:
“I’m thrilled. We’re already actually starting Zombieland. I’ve been scouting and storyboarding and getting it going, and to get to work with that cast again is just an absolute dream come true. It’s been really exciting starting to think about that movie, and to get to work with Emma, Jesse, Woody and Abigail once again is truly a dream come true. Yeah, we’re just at the very early stages, but we have an amazing script, and we’re going to start shooting in Georgia in January”
From how Fleischer describes it, sounds like the film will have a good script in mind, and to reunite with Emma Stone, Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, and Abigail Breslin will no doubt be a fun time for the director. Stay tuned for more updates on the Zombieland sequel.
