Ruby Rose’s ‘Batwoman’ Leads New Fall Shows In Two TV Awareness Studies

Ruby Rose Batwoman CW Crisis on Infinite Earths Bruce Wayne Arrowverse

Ruby Rose’s Batwoman is leading this fall’s new series’ in terms of awareness and demand according to two new studies.

The CW’s Arrowverse will expand next month with Batwoman, a new series centered on Ruby Rose’s Caped Crusader following her debut in last year’s Elseworlds crossover. Now, Variety has obtained two reports showing Batwoman is the leading this fall’s new shows in terms of viewers being “aware” of a series and the “demand for a show.”

According Ipsos most recent TV Dallies report, Ruby Rose’s Batwoman is ahead of all the new series’ gaining a “definite interest in viewing” among thousands of individuals between the ages of 13 and 64 who were surveyed between August. 26 and September 15. Furthermore, Parrot Analytics created a study “using its proprietary ‘Demand Expressions’ metric focusing on the new fall broadcast TV shows” at the request of Variety.

The results of Parrot Analytics’ study revealed Ruby Rose’s Batwoman “over-indexed the most compared to the overall average for all television series.” Parrot marketing vice president Samuel Stadler made the following comment on the results and the success of Ruby Rose’s Batwoman:

“For ‘Batwoman,’ it’s almost twice in demand as the market average title in the U.S. already. This says to us that this is a very strong contender, a release that should go very well… there are so many drama titles out there, if you have a hook against existing IP or audiences are already aware of the universe you’re about to explore, it’s much more likely that series will resonate”

Here is the official synopsis for Ruby Rose’s Batwoman:

Kate Kane (Ruby Rose) never planned to be Gotham’s new vigilante. Three years after Batman mysteriously disappeared, Gotham is a city in despair. Without the Caped Crusader, the Gotham City Police Department was overrun and outgunned by criminal gangs. Enter Jacob Kane (Dougray Scott) and his military-grade Crows Private Security, which now protects the city with omnipresent firepower and militia. Years before, Jacob’s first wife and daughter were killed in the crossfire of Gotham crime. He sent his only surviving daughter, Kate Kane, away from Gotham for her safety.

After a dishonorable discharge from military school and years of brutal survival training, Kate returns home when the Alice in Wonderland gang targets her father and his security firm, by kidnapping his best Crow officer Sophie Moore (Meagan Tandy). Although remarried to wealthy socialite Catherine Hamilton-Kane (Elizabeth Anweis), who bankrolls the Crows, Jacob is still struggling with the family he lost, while keeping Kate –– the daughter he still has –– at a distance. But Kate is a woman who’s done asking for permission. In order to help her family and her city, she’ll have to become the one thing her father loathes –– a dark knight vigilante.

With the help of her compassionate stepsister, Mary (Nicole Kang), and the crafty Luke Fox (Camrus Johnson), the son of Wayne Enterprises’ tech guru Lucius Fox, Kate Kane continues the legacy of her missing cousin, Bruce Wayne, as Batwoman. Still holding a flame for her ex-girlfriend, Sophie, Kate uses everything in her power to combat the dark machinations of the psychotic Alice (Rachel Skarsten), who’s always somewhere slipping between sane and insane. Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate soars through the shadowed streets of Gotham as Batwoman. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, she must first overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.

Batwoman stars Ruby Rose, Rachel Skarsten, Meagan Tandy, Camrus Johnson, Dougray Scott, Elizabeth Anweis, and Nicole Kang. Caroline Dries wrote the pilot and serves as an executive producer alongside Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Geoff Johns.

Batwoman will premiere on October 6, 2019, at 8:00 p.m. on The CW.
