UPDATE: Well, it looks like these rumors are not true. Director James Gunn took to Twitter today to confirm that the report is not accurate. Here’s the tweet:

Warning: article contains rumors that could be potential spoilers for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Thor: Ragnarok.
The Elders are an ancient group of Marvel characters who are all the last of their species, and they are rumored to be playing an important role in both the upcoming galactic Marvel films Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 and Thor: Ragnarok. The Collector was already in the first Guardians of the Galaxy and Jeff Goldblum has been cast as the Grandmaster in Thor: Ragnarok, both of whom are Elders in the comics. The pieces are there, so their inclusion would make sense.
According to the website SchmoesKnow, the Elders will be playing large roles in both movies. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will include four Elders, according to the website. It is rumored that the Elders in Vol. 2 will include The Collector, Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki), and two unnamed Elders who will be played by Sylvester Stallone and Sharon Stone. The Elders are said to be the force that convinces the Guardians to seek out Ego the Living Planet (played by Kurt Russell). On a side note, Ego once considered himself an Elder in the comics, although he does not technically qualify.
The website claims the Grandmaster is definitely an Elder in Thor: Ragnarok and that he will be the one overseeing the Gladiatorial Games on Ragnarok. He will have been exiled from the rest of the Elders. It is uncertain if Goldblum will be in both movies at this time.
It is worth noting that Ayesha and the character’s being played by Stallone and Stone will most likely be heavily modified from the comic versions. Marvel has been known to tweak its lore for the movie in the past however, so it should not impact the movie tremendously.
