Rumor: Marvel Working On Two Disney+ Series, Including Secret Invasion

Secret Invasion Marvel Disney Plus Ironheart

A brand new rumor suggests that Marvel is currently working on two shows for Disney Plus, with one of them being a Secret Invasion series.

Sources have told Bleeding Cool that Marvel is currently focusing on bringing the Secret Invasion comic-series to Disney Plus. The Secret Invasion comic-series is one of Marvel’s most iconic arcs, focusing on the Skrulls who were introduced in Captain Marvel. The Skrulls, a species who are bale to shape shift, also made an appearance in Spider-Man: Far From Home, further cementing their importance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

At this stage in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it would make perfect sense for a Secret Invasion-focused series to come out as it would add more concrete stakes to the series after the earth-shattering conclusion of Marvel’s Phase 3. Now that Marvel’s Phase 4 is on its way, it also makes sense for Disney Plus to get some of the hotter Marvel properties, as something like Secret Invasion will more than certainly draw in even the more casual Marvel viewers.

The other Disney Plus series for the Marvel Cinematic Universe will focus on a solo A-lister hero in the same vein as Loki, though there’s no indication as to who it would be at the present moment. The characters for the unannounced Disney Plus series already exists in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There are tons of Marvel heroes that Disney Plus could mine, such as Rocket Racoon, The Wasp, or Korg that would give the streaming service more viewers.

It’s best to remember that the news of two new Disney Plus series are merely rumors at this stage, though it obviously makes sense that the studio would want to have more emphasis on the streaming service. As Marvel transitions into the new decade and the theatrical experience slowly loses its weight, audiences are becoming more interested in consuming content at home. With a show like Secret Invasion, Marvel fans have an increasing incentive to subscribe to Disney Plus, the exclusive streaming service for all things Marvel.
