Russian Doll co-creator Leslye Headland talked about her love for Star Wars in a resurfaced interview from The Rise of Skywalker premiere.
On Wednesday, news broke that a “female-centric” series from Russian Doll co-creator Leslye Headland was in development. This new series would be the fourth live-action series set in a galaxy far, far away on Disney Plus. As it turns out, Headland actually attended The Rise of Skywalker premiere back in December.
The Hollywood Reporter’s Borys Kit went on to add that sources say that Headland’s deal was done several months ago. In a resurfaced interview, Variety caught up with Headland at The Rise of Skywalker premiere where she was asked about her fandom:
“I’m the type of Star Wars fan that doesn’t have a favorite movie, I just want to live in the universe of Star Wars continually, in perpetuity forever. So, when people are like, ‘What’s your favorite Star Wars movie?’ I’m like, ‘There is no Star Wars movie, only Star Wars.'”
Headland was also asked when she was writing a movie, to which she responded:
“Please…please Queen Kathleen Kennedy! I think I’ve had ideas for Star Wars movies since I was 13-years old, maybe eight years old?”

Here is the official synopsis for The Mandalorian:
After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.
The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Swallow, Carl Weathers, Omid Abtahi, Werner Herzog, and Nick Nolte. The Star Wars series was written by Jon Favreau, who also serves as an executive producer alongside Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson. Karen Gilchrist is also on board as a co-executive producer.
The Mandalorian season one is now available exclusively on Disney Plus.
