The events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier had a massive impact on the Marvel Cinematic Universe and it looks like Civil War will be no different, as the movie will set the stage for the rest of Marvel’s upcoming Phase 3 movies. We’ve heard nothing but good things so far about the threequel, and reportedly, the movie has been testing exceptionally well with test audiences, despite its rumored controversial ending, which was recently teased by the Russo Brothers in the latest issue of Empire Magazine.

During a recent panel at Wizard World Cleveland Comic Con, the directors talked about the upcoming movie and teased how much more aggressive it’s going to be compared to The Winter Soldier. Here’s what they had to say:

We really did a radical reinterpretation of Captain America in Winter Soldier. We were twice as aggressive in tone and execution on Civil War.

However, they wouldn’t answer any questions regarding Spider-Man’s appearance in the movie, whose role has been shrouded in mystery. Instead, they briefly touched upon Steve’s and Bucky’s relationship:

The relationship between him and Captain America will be further fleshed.

    “further fleshed”?? hmm, a different kind of tone than i orginally expected. oh well, bring it.

  • Queen_Boudicca

    I’m all for Cap and Bucky being “further fleshed” together.

  • Whatsupdoc

    “Further fleshed,” sooo we’re gettin’ nipple clamps and balls gags. ;

      Yeah, that does come off a tad bit BROKEBACKISH in a Freudian-like way.

    Is just me…why do people say that CA:TWS has “massive” impact. Sure Shield went down…but where did we see the reprocations outside of this movie. Like seriously, it is barely ever addressed after that.

      I mean, it changed the entire dynamic of the team in Age of Ultron and it pretty much informs Steve Rogers’ arc throughout every movie since.

        Agents of SHIELD too.
