Ryan Reynolds has reteamed with Free Guy director Shawn Levy for a new time travel film from Skydance Media.
The upcoming project will mark the second time that Ryan Reynolds and Shawn Levy have worked together on a project. Reynolds will co-produce and star in the picture alongside Levy. The film will also be co-produced by Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger but currently does not have a release date.
In addition, the upcoming Ryan Reynolds film is set to be written by Jonathan Topper who had previously worked with Shawn Levy for his 2014 film, This Is Where I Leave You. The time travel film is set to be a reworking of another project known as Our Name Is Adam which had been in and out of development for since at least 2012. The unnamed project is set to begin filming sometime in the fourth quarter on the East Coast.
The plot of the upcoming film, of course, involves time travel. In it, Ryan Reynolds’ character will travel back in time to get help from his 13-year-old self. The two will also encounter the character’s late father who is the same age as Ryan Reynolds. It is currently unknown how this will factor into the film.

After realizing that he’s a non-playable-character in an open world video game that will soon get shut down, a bank teller played by Ryan Reynolds named Guy tries his best to save himself and the game from being permanently offline.
Directed by Shawn Levy, Free Guy stars Ryan Reynolds, Lil Rel Howery, Joe Keery, Jodie Comer, Utkarsh Ambudkar, and Taika Waititi. Streamers Ninja and Pokimane will have cameo appearances.
Free Guy will hit theatres on December 11, 2020.
