Ladies and gentlemen, it happened. Just hours after winning a Critics Choice Award Ryan Reynolds has been nominated for a Golden Globe. Yes, a Golden Globe. In what appears to be an R-rated fairytale, Reynolds’ role as Wade Wilson/Deadpool made a huge impact on voters as the actor has finally been nominated for the prestigious award. The story of Deadpool is one that will be told for decades to come. A film that Fox refused to green light has now become one of the very few superhero films to receive a major nomination for an acting performance. In fact, the last time an actor was recognised for his work in a comic book movie was Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight. Ryan Reynolds of course landed in the Best Actor In A Comedy category alongside such contenders as Ryan Gosling, Jonah Hill, Hugh Grant and Colin Farrell.

It appears that Deadpool has also been nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Comedy. Words simply cannot express how amazed I am. A comic book movie that poked fun at everything comic book movies are, receives two incredible nominations. Awesome stuff. However, Deadpool is up against some tough competition in 20th Century Women, La La Land and Sing Street.

Ryan Reynolds quickly responded to the nomination on his Twitter account by saying:
Thank you, Golden Globes! As we speak, the entire Deadpool team is engaged in a grotesque, early morning tickle-fight. pic.twitter.com/l2LJT32tAi

How do you guys feel about Ryan Reynolds receiving a Golden Globe nomination for Deadpool? As well as the movie itself? Personally, I have no idea how this happened. I firmly believed Reynolds deserved this, but never, in a million years, would I have thought he would have actually received anything. Well kids, don’t stop believing!
Deadpool is on DVD/Blu-Ray now.
