Hulu announced Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man will arrive on the streaming service in April.
Spider-Man finally made the leap to the silver screen with the eponymous Marvel Comics’ hero’s first feature film in 2002. Directed by Sam Raimi, the film is regarded by many as the gold standard depiction of the classic hero.
Now, Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man will be available on Hulu starting on April 1, 2020. The origin film stars Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man, Willem Dafoe as Norman Osborne/Green Goblin, Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane Watson, James Franco as Harry Osborne, J. K. Simmons as Daily Bugle editor-in-chief J. Jonah Jameson, Rosemary Harris as Aunt May, and Cliff Robertson as Uncle Ben.
The success of the film led to an acclaimed sequel and less-well-received third installment, all of which were directed by Sam Raimi. Years later, Sony opted to move forward with a reboot of the franchise starring Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man. However, the new films did not perform as well as expected and Sony eventually partnered with Marvel Studios to co-produce new films set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Tom Holland as the new wall-crawler.
