Scarlett Johansson Teases ‘Black Widow’ Is About ‘Self-Forgiveness’ & ‘Family’

Black Widow Scarlett Johansson Age of Ultron Avengers

Scarlett Johansson recently described Black Widow as a film about self-forgiveness and family in a recent interview.

Scarlett Johansson first appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Black Widow back in 2010’s Iron Man 2. Scarlett Johansson has now gone onto become a staple of the MCU’s ensemble as we know it today, even after her death in Avengers: Endgame. But now after a decade of playing a character, Scarlett Johansson is finally getting her own solo film.

Black Widow footage was revealed at San Diego Comic Con and D23 over the summer, but based on Marvel Studios’ track record, fans are expected the first trailer for the public soon. As fans await the first Black Widow trailer, any insight on the film is appreciated. After wrapping the film recently, Scarlett Johansson teased what Black Widow is about in an interview with Vanity Fair:

“We just wrapped Black Widow like two weeks ago or something like that so it’s very fresh in my mind and I don’t have the total perspective on it yet. It’s a film about self-forgiveness and it’s a film about family. I think in life we sort of come of age many times and you have these kind of moments where you’re in a transitional phase and then you move sort of beyond it and I think in the Black Widow standalone film I think the character is at, when we find her, a moment of real crisis, and throughout the film, by facing herself in a lot of ways and a lot of things that make her, her, she actually kind of comes through that crisis on the other side and we start to be able to reset where she’s a more grounded, self-possessed person. So that’s her journey, well, I hope anyway.”
