Sebastian Stan is joining the DC Universe!

Director Matt Reeves appears to be expanding the cast of The Batman Part II, with Sebastian Stan now in talks to join the DC Studios sequel, as reported by Deadline. Sources cited by the trade say Stan is negotiating for an undisclosed role in the film, which Reeves is writing and directing. Robert Pattinson is set to reprise his role as Bruce Wayne. Warner Bros. and DC Studios declined to comment on the report.

Stan’s possible involvement comes shortly after news broke that Scarlett Johansson had entered talks for a key role in the sequel. Johansson and Stan previously worked together in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where both played prominent Avengers characters across multiple films. While details about Johansson’s role have not been officially confirmed, her casting has fueled speculation about the direction Reeves is taking with the follow-up to 2022’s The Batman.

All signs point to Sebastian Stan playing Harvey Dent in The Batman Part II

Veteran entertainment reporter Jeff Sneider has suggested that Johansson may be portraying Gilda Gold, the wife of Harvey Dent, the Gotham district attorney who eventually becomes Two-Face in DC Comics lore. According to Sneider, the sequel is said to feature three significant new characters: Dent, Gilda, and Dent’s abusive father, Christopher Dent. The report claims the roles of Dent and Gilda are intended for actors in their 40s, while the father would be played by an actor in his 60s.

If that reporting proves accurate, Stan’s potential casting has led to increased speculation that he could be stepping into the role of Harvey Dent. Stan, who is in his early 40s, would fit the reported age range for the character, though no outlet has confirmed his role. DC Studios has not addressed the rumors surrounding Dent’s inclusion or how central the character may be to the sequel’s story.

The Batman Part II remains in development, with Reeves currently working on pre-production. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on October 1, 2027. Stay tuned for more update.
