Second Film In ‘Fantastic Beast’ Series Announced With Release Date

The wizarding world of Harry Potter expands on November 18th with Fantastic Beasts and now a sequel to Beasts is already in the works. The second movie in this series will be released on Nov. 16, 2018. J.K. Rowling will be writing the script.

Yates will also be returning to direct the next chapter in this Fantastic Beasts series. The movie will bring producers David Heyman, Rowling, Steve Kloves and Lionel Wigram back together. Neil Blair, Rick Senat and Danny Cohen will be executive producers.

In a statement from Warner Bros., the movie was described as a deeper dive into the “increasingly dark time for the wizarding world, where Newt and our other heroes have to decide on their allegiances.”

A third movie is in the works and it is expected to come out in November 2020.

A brand new trailer for David Yates’ Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them  was shown at San Diego Comic-Con, The trailer is packed with new footage from the upcoming movie and gives us a closer look at some of the magical creatures, as well as all the new heroes and villains we’ll meet in just a few months.

“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident…were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.

Starring Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, Colin Farrell, Samantha Morton, Carmen Ejogo, Ron Perlman and Ezra Miller, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opens in theaters on November 18, 2016.
