The second season of Netflix’s Jessica Jones is starting to take shape. While the focus remains on Jessica, showrunner Melissa Rosenberg opened up about the fact that the secondary characters will be playing a very important role this season.
“That’s the trick of a show called Jessica Jones. If she’s not in the scene, it’s not a guarantee that scene will end up in the final picture.”
In addition to Jones, other characters exists within the Marvel Netflix universe and they could be playing a part in the story progression this season.
“You have to earn secondary character stories. You have to flesh them out enough so they can eventually carry stories of their own, which is very much what season one was about.”‘
Krysten Ritter has also been providing ongoing updates for Jones fans. Ritter explained that she will shoot Netflix’s upcoming The Defenders and the second season of Jessica Jones back to back this year.
“They’ll be back-to-back. I don’t know if they’ll overlap a little bit. It’s about to be a serious undertaking. I’m starting my physical training – lots of weight training and boxing.”
The star of Jones hinted that this season could feature a few surprise cameos from those within the Marvel Universe.
“I’m excited to see what happens next for Jessica, and the end of season one left a lot of doors open and questions unanswered. Kilgrave was her reason for getting up every morning. Saving people gave her purpose. I wonder how emotionally taxed she’s going to be now. That opens a lot of doors as to who will come out and play. We all live in the same universe, so there are endless possibilities.”
The second season of Jessica Jones is likely to start filming this year but a release date has yet to be set.
