A new featurette for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings teases the film’s connection to Iron Man.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is set to hit cinemas in early September, making it the first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to receive an exclusive theatrical release since Avengers: Endgame. With the release so close, Marvel Studios has released a brand new featurette to promote the film. The video shows a couple of new shots of footage, particularly those of Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi engaging in battle. It also features brief interviews from Shang-Chi star Simu Liu, Awkwafina, director Destin Daniel Cretton, and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, who teased the film’s relationship to the first Iron Man.

A quick refresher: Tony Stark is captured in the opening hour of Iron Man by a terrorist organization known as The Ten Rings who want the master weapons creator to build tools of destruction for them. Instead, he builds the Iron Man suit and destroys the Afghanistan chapter of the group. Of course, the actual leader of the Ten Rings is Shang-Chi’s father: The Mandarin. In the featurette, Kevin Feige directly teased the inherent connection that Iron Man has with the organization that the Simu Liu character was born into.
