Shawn Levy is staying busy!

Shawn Levy is looking to direct a Star Wars movie after Deadpool 3 and the final season of Netflix’s Stranger Things.

Deadline reports that a new Star Wars movie is currently in development at Disney and Lucasfilm, with Shawn Levy in talks to direct. Levy is expected to helm the Star Wars project after directing Deadpool 3 and at least two episodes of the final season of Stranger Things for Netflix.

Shawn Levy is currently on post-production on the four-episode limited series All the Light We Cannot See at Netflix. He will then move on to the third Deadpool movie, which sees the return of Ryan Reynolds as the Merc with the Mouth and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.

J.D. Dillard’s Star Wars movie is not happening

Meanwhile, TheWrap reports that J.D. Dillard is no longer working on a Star Wars movie for the Disney Plus streaming service. Dillord confirmed that the project is dead while doing the press rounds for his upcoming aerial war epic Devotion.

The Rise of Skywalker is the last Star Wars feature to open in theaters. The J.J. Abrams-directed feature made its debut in December 2019 and earned $1.074 billion at the worldwide box office, a smaller than its predecessors The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. It also received mixed reviews from critics and audiences.
