One of the trending topics when it comes to the Shazam! film is how much the suit Zachary Levi wears cost to make. While most believe it to be in the $1M range, this is most certainly not the case.
The film’s costume designer made heads spin when she said that the film requires 10 suits, each costing upwards of $1M. The Hollywood Reporter, however, reports that she may have things wrong with the Zachary Levi lead flick:
That would be an insane allocation for a movie that has a budget in the $80 million to $90 million range.
But sources tell Heat Vision that $1 million per suit figure is wildly inflated, particularly as the New Line and Warner Bros. film is being billed as a more modestly budgeted kind of superhero pic. In fact, a source says the Shazam suit is more in the $60,000 to $70,000 range. That’s about $600,000 for 10 suits, which is still noteworthy.
That’s a relief. In the meantime we’ll keep you posted on what’s happening with the Shazam! film. Are you excited to see Zachary Levi in the film? Do you plan to see it in theaters? Let us know in the comments!
We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).
Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans, and Ron Cephas.
Shazam! will be released in theaters on April 5, 2019.
