Danny Rand’s origins will seemingly be explored, if new information from Finn Jones himself is anything to go by. The actor who will be playing the title character in Marvel Netflix’s Iron Fist recently spoke to Empire magazine about Danny Rand coming back to society and having met a dragon.
“Danny has to deal with society’s reaction…He comes back and says: ‘Hey, guess what? I’ve been in this place called K’un Lun for years, I’ve got this thing called the Iron Fist and I met a dragon!’ And everybody’s like, ‘What the fuck are you talking about? You’re insane.’”
The dragon refers to Iron Fist’s origin story and to how he got the dragon tattoo that appears on his chest. Shou-Lao is an immortal dragon Iron Fist fought before returning to the U.S. This might indicate the character’s appearance on the series at some point in season one. It isn’t necessarily a confirmation, but the reference provides some insight.
Finn Jones, in the six-page Empire spread, also discussed the fight scenes that are on the show.
“It’s about choreography, because really you’re doing a dance. You’re learning the steps and working with your partner. When you’re in the midst of fights your adrenaline’s so pumped you don’t think about what you’re doing to your body until you wake up the next day and think, ‘F—–g hell!’ It comes with the territory. If you’re doing two or three fights per week for six months you’re going to get some injuries.”
Iron Fist will premiere on Netflix on March 17.
