Whenever someone mentions Young Justice, fans of the ill-fated show flock to the source of the information faster than The Flash can save his mother from the Reverse-Flash and screw up the timeline. Young Justice was abruptly cancelled after its second season, and rumors have been circulating since the cancellation that it was because the show did not sell toys fast enough. While that statement has never been proven, it doesn’t change the fact the fan-favorite series ended on a huge cliffhanger, leaving viewers in complete purgatory.

Since the show was cancelled, fans have made noise to try and get the series to come back in some form. Creator Greg Weisman has also been vocal about wanting the show back, reassuring us that they do have more story to tell and that they want it back as badly as we do. There was even a point about six months ago where it was stated by Weisman that the show had a chance of coming back if enough people binge-watched it on Netflix.

Nothing else has come of the binge-watching since Weisman had made the initial announcement. That is, until yesterday. A rumor circulated the comic blog-o-sphere with a link to a Reddit post that claimed during a conversation with show writer Peter David, it was said that Netflix had approached with him a deal about a third season. That “story” raised fans hopes up quite a bit, only to be ultimately crushed once again.

Weisman began Tweeting about the claims, and brought David into the conversation. When asked about the situation, Weisman made the assumption that David had been misquoted. Check out the Tweets, below:

There you have it: A total misquote. It just goes to show that you can’t always believe what you read online, and Reddit isn’t a reliable source for… well, anything. As for right now, the only thing fans can really do is pray, and watch a lot of Young Justice on Netflix.

The original poster from the Reddit thread made an additional clarification after the fact:

“LET ME JUST ADD ONE THING HERE, MY “it’s happening” WAS MORE HYPE THAN CONFIRMATION. I TOLD YOU ALL WHAT I KNOW AND WHAT I WAS TOLD, IT DOESNT MEAN I CAN CONFIRM. TRUTH IS THAT PETER DAVID MET WITH NETFLIX AFTER NETFLIX SAW THE INCREASE IN VIEWS OF YJ, THATS A GOOD SIGN THAT NETFLIX CAN MOVE FORWARD WITH A NEW SEASON BUT ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN. ONLY TIME WILL TELL”

Although he states he never confirmed anything, he does reaffirm that David did in fact say he had met with Netflix. As of right now, we’re going to file this one into the “probable-BS” cabinet here at Heroic Hollywood until something definite comes out one way or another. Until then, we will be praying to the comic Gods right along with everyone else.
