‘Smallville’: Lionel & Lex Luthor Stars Reunite In Photo

Smallville Lex Luthor Michael Rosenbaum Supergirl

In a recent post, Smallville and Lex Luthor actor Michael Rosenbaum reunited with his onscreen father for a photo.

The picture in question shows actors in what appears to be an office behind a bookshelf. Michael Rosenbaum, who played a young version of Lex Luthor in the show, was holding the camera for a selfie. Lionel Luthor actor, John Glover, is kissing his cheek.

In the caption for the image, the Lex Luthor actor stated that he missed his father at times:

I miss my father sometimes. @RealJohnGlover #insideofyoupodcast #father #son #lionel #lex

The relationship between the two characters in the show was always rather complicated. Lex Luthor was set up as being more of a tragic hero who was, at least at one point, Clark Kent’s friend. As the series went on, he was negatively influenced by his more sinister father who was set up as being one of the show’s main antagonists. The relationship between the Lex Luthor and Clark was one of the main conflicts of the story.

Since Smallville ended, neither Michael Rosenbaum nor John Glover have returned to their respective roles. While Rosenbaum has expressed interest to returning to the role in the past, the various CW Arrowverse shows seem more interested in taking the character in their own direction. A few Smallville Easter Eggs have been dropped in the upcoming Elseworlds crossover event but otherwise seem to have no real connection to the show.

What do you make of the CW’s direction? Would you have liked to see the Smallville actor return to the role or is the Arrowverse right to take things in their own direction? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

The 2018 Arrowverse crossover starts with a special episode of The Flash on Sunday, December 9 and continues with Arrow on Monday, December 10. The three-night event concludes with Supergirl on Tuesday, December 11. All three entries will air at 8:00 p.m. ET on their respective nights.
