The Solo Batman Is Not Set Entirely In Arkham Asylum

Batman Solo Movie Arkham Asylum

If you ask any superhero fan what the greatest Batman game is, they’ll probably just direct you towards the entire Arkham series. Every game in that series is phenomenal, and a fairly accurate representation of what it’s like in the day of the Bat himself. While Arkham City is the game most tend to love the most, fans of the franchise still have a special place in their heart for the game that started it all- Arkham Asylum.

Set in the rusty and very clearly not up to code hallways of the Arkham Asylum, Gotham’s one-stop supervillain supermarket, Batman: Arkham Asylum saw Batman trying to foil the Joker’s evil plan. The Clown Prince of Crime sets all of the inmates, including several A-list Batman rogues free, wreaking havoc on the Asylum and its guards.

The game was an instant success, players loved controlling the Caped Crusader in an action-adventure-mystery game that actually felt like being Batman! With the popularity of the game, it only makes sense for DC to take it and adapt if for the big screen, right? Well, that’s what we hoped was happening when the rumor spread that the solo Batman film would be set in the fabled Asylum.

Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case. Our EIC recently tweeted out a scoop for Batman Day today, debunking the rumor.

Of course, this doesn’t necessarily rule out the possibility of Arkham Asylum showing up in the solo Batman movie, it just means the film won’t be set entirely in the facility. On one hand, it’s a shame that we won’t be getting the Arkham Asylum film adaption we wanted. On the other hand, this means we’ll get to see more of Gotham City, and that’s a setting I can’t wait to see “Batfleck” gliding around in.
