Sony Buys ‘Marvel’s Spider-Man’ PS4 Developer Insomniac Games

PS4 Marvel Spider-Man Insomniac Games Sony

After a 25 year run as an independent developer, Insomniac Games, the developer of the 2018 video game, Marvel’s Spider-Man for the PS4 has been bought by Sony.

In a report published by Kotaku, it was revealed that Sony has brought Insomniac Games under their fold. Since the company’s foundation, Insomniac Games has had a long and profitable relationship with Sony. Of the many games the developer has published, several of them have been PlayStation exclusives. In fact, the developer’s most lucrative brands, such as Spyro and Ratchet & Clank, started out as exclusives for Sony’s home consoles and arguably reached their peak while only releasing for PlayStation consoles. In their time, however, the company has managed to avoid being owned by a larger publisher. But now this has come to an end.

Full details on Sony’s acquisition of Insomniac Games are currently being kept under wraps. Insomniac Games’ latest project, Marvel’s Spider-Man for the PS4 was the company’s best selling game to date, moving over 13.2 million copies worldwide. The sequel to the PS4 game is currently in development and is expected to be released on the next generation of video game consoles.

‘Aladdin’ Images Show Vibrant New Look At Naomi Scott As Jasmine

The latest Aladdin images showoff Jasmine’s (Naomi Scott) incredible wardrobe.

Entertainment Weekly has revealed some brand new photos from Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of their animated classic, Aladdin. This collection of photos focuses on Princess Jasmine (Naomi Scott) and her vibrant wardrobe collection.

Naomi Scott spoke to EW about Jasmine’s colorful wardrobe choices in Aladdin and how it plays a part in her character, the world and the journey she goes through:

“The main conversation is structure versus freedom that I think is obviously is the metaphor for her journey as a character. If she’s wearing something that’s structured and beautiful, it can’t just be the sake of it looking great, it needs to be connected to the story.”

EW reports that there are around 10 new outfits that Naomi Scott will don as Jasmine in the film, giving her the opportunity to showcase her beauty as the beloved princess as Aladdin (Mena Massoud) attempts to woo her.

Aladdin costume designer Michael Wilkinson discussed the approach taken to bringing the new costumes to life in live-action form:

“When you’re designing the costumes for a live action film that’s based on animation, there’s an opportunity to take these characters and give them literally more depth and details, really think about them as fully-fleshed people with complex psychologies and interesting personalities, so it was wonderful to explore who Jasmine really was and be able to express that through her many costumes in the film.”

“Aladdin” is the exciting tale of the charming street rat Aladdin, the courageous and self-determined Princess Jasmine and the Genie who may be the key to their future.

Directed by Guy Ritchie from a script he co-wrote with John August, the film stars Will Smith as the Genie, Mena Massoud as Aladdin, Naomi Scott as Jasmine, Marwan Kenzari as Jafar, Navid Negahban as the Sultan, Nasim Pedrad as Dalia, Billy Magnussen as Prince Anders, and Numan Acar as Hakim.

Aladdin will be released in theatres on May 24, 2019.
