Sony confirmed the official name of its Spider-Man film universe.

While Sony has been producing Spider-Man films ever since the first Sam Raimi film debuted in 2002, it only recently began developing a shared universe of characters connected to the web-slinger with projects such as Venom and the upcoming Morbius.

While the official name of this universe had been unveiled in a 2019 presentation from Sony Pictures Entertainment, a recent post from the official Spider-Man movie Twitter account seemingly revealed the all-encompassing name for the past and present films was the “Spider-Man Universe of Characters.” However, IGN reached out to Sony for clarification on the matter and the studio confirmed that its Spider-Man universe is called the Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters.
