Spider-Gwen is back in a new image from next year’s Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse.

Empire has revealed an image from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, featuring the fan-favorite Spider-Gwen, voiced by Hailee Steinfeld. The sequel to the Oscar-winning animated movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Across The Spider-Verse sees Spider-Gwen once again teaming up with Miles Morales to take on The Spot, a mysterious interdimensional villain.

During a discussion with Empire, Across The Spider-Verse producer Phil Lord opened up about the ambition behind the upcoming sequel, sharing that it has six dominant animation styles. In comparison, Into the Spider-Verse only had one.

“We’re taking those tools, adding all the things we learned on The Mitchells Vs The Machines, and then growing them further to accommodate the ambition of this movie,” Lord told the magazine. “Which is to wow you every time you enter a new environment, and also to make sure that the style of the movie reflect the story, and that the images are driven by feelings, as opposed to some egg-headed art project. Which it also is, by the way.”

Sony’s official Across The Spider-Verse synopsis reads as follows: “Miles Morales returns for the next chapter of the Oscar®-winning Spider-Verse saga, an epic adventure that will transport Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man across the Multiverse to join forces with Gwen Stacy and a new team of Spider-People to face off with a villain more powerful than anything they have ever encountered.”
