Spider-Man Homecoming 1Spider-Man: Homecoming hits theaters in just a few short weeks and marks the solo debut of Spider-Man in the MCU. With Sony still owning the rights to the Spider-Man franchise, fans have been wondering if the upcoming film is simply a one and done, considering Marvel is essentially licensing the rights.

During the Supernova Comic Con in Sydney, director Jon Watts spoke to the crowds of fans via video chat and spoke about his time with the MCU, including where the character of Spider-Man will be going beyond his first solo outing. Recently, Amy Pascal, CEO of Sony Pictures made a few controversial remarks about Spider-Man’s future in the MCU, but Watts cleared it up with ease. Essentially, Watts confirmed that Spider-Man has a long and prosperous future in the MCU. The inclusion of Spider-Man in the MCU is unprecedented, considering both studios are sharing the character, but it’s the best for both parties.

In addition, Watts teased the Spider-Man: Homecoming teaser, which he thinks is something that people should stick around for. Over on Twitter, a fan by the username of @Tyler_Cull3n posted the following tweet:

Directed by Jon Watts, the film stars Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Tony Revolori, Kenneth Choi, Hannibal Buress, Abraham Attah, Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr.

A young Peter Parker (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.

Spider-Man: Homecoming will be released in theaters on July 7, 2017.
