Part of the charm of Spider-Man in the comics and previous cinematic incarnations is the DIY nature of his suit. Granted, Spider-Man: Homecoming will prominently feature the suit designed by Tony Stark, but we will also see Peter Parker (Tom Holland) swinging into action in his low-budget suit.
In partnership with Goodwill, a special contest in honor of Spider-Man: Homecoming gave fans the opportunity to let their creativity run wild in putting together their own Spidey suit. 10 semi-finalists were chosen, with the winner given the chance to attend the world premiere screening of the film while also getting the chance to display their design at the premiere as well.
Sony Pictures released a brand new video that features six YouTube content creators showing off their own DIY Spidey suits. These designs are quite distinct from each other, gaining inspiration from their own perceptions of the webhead.
Which of these YouTube content creators’ suits is your favorite? For me, I gotta go with RobotUnderdog2‘s design. The use of black and the webshooters are quite impressive.
Fans can see and vote on the other DIY suit designs here. Voting ends on June 11, 2017.
Here is the synopsis for Spider-Man: Homecoming.
A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.
Directed by Jon Watts, the film stars Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, Michael Chernus, Kenneth Choi, Hannibal Buress, Martin Starr, Michael Barbieri, Angourie Rice, Abraham Attah, Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr.
Spider-Man: Homecoming swings into theaters on July 7, 2017.
