Spider-Man: Homecoming star Michael Mando has said that he would like to see a standalone Scorpion movie.
Homecoming saw a surprising number of Spider-Man villains appear in ways you would not otherwise expect. Michale Keaton’s Vulture turned out to be one of the more sympathetic antagonists the Marvel Cinematic Universe had created up until that point and featured a version of the Shocker as a supporting antagonist. In addition, the film featured a version of Scorpion played by Michael Mando.
In the film, Michale Mando played Mac Gargan who is the best-known version of Scorpion from the Spider-Man comics. In Homecoming, Michale Mando’s version was that of a gangster who was involved in a weapons deal with Vulture and was sent to prison for it. During an after-credits scene, the character was seen talking to Vulture that seemed to be setting up some kind tease for a future film. Sadly up until this point, future Scorpion appearances have not happened but the actor isn’t against returning to the role.
While speaking to Screen Rant, Micahel Mando spoke a bit about the possibility of a standalone Scorpion film and the great potential the character had for such a story:
I definitely would. I think that would be fascinating – a detective who goes rogue. Mac Gargan kind of goes a little bit insane, and there’s also this other story where he becomes Venom as well. I think it’s a very, very rich character; it’s a dark character. And he’s a cop at the end of the day; he’s a detective. I think that’d be something that I would definitely be something I’d like to watch.
What do you all make of Michael Mando’s comments? Would you like to see him get a stand-alone Scorpion film? Would you rather see him return as a Spider-Man antagonist? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
