The new Spider-Man sequel starring Tom Holland, Spider-Man: Far From Home gives Thanos’ snap a brand new name within the Marvel Cinematic Universe itself. Spoiler warning!
After the release of Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel’s official tie-in book The Cosmic Quest Volume Two: Aftermath declared Thanos’ snap which wiped out half of the universe’s population as “The Decimation.” But in the franchise’s latest effort, Spider-Man: Far From Home, which closes out the third phase of the MCU, the snap itself, as well as the duration for which those who were dusted were gone, is officially dubbed “the blip.” The new name for Thanos’ snap is revealed at the beginning of the film, during a video from Midtown High, but is also mentioned throughout the film, with character’s even referring to the experience as being “blipped.”
