When Marvel and Sony reached a deal to co-produce a new Spider-Man film and allow Marvel Studios to use the character in their own feature films, it marked the end of actor Andrew Garfield’s tenure as the wall crawler. Despite having praised the first trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, Garfield had yet to meet his successor, Tom Holland, who made his debut in the role in Captain America: Civil War. However, the two finally met while walking the red carpet at the 2017 BAFTA awards in London and an enthusiastic fan captured the moment in a video posted on Twitter.
Twitter user @mytomholland managed to film to moment Holland met Garfield and while the conversation between the two is inaudible, Holland later discussed the meeting with reporters backstage following his Rising Star award win.
“We met for the first time on the red carpet today. And it was really, really nice, actually. He’s a really, really lovely guy. He’s everything I hoped he’d be. He is a brilliant actor, too. I have always been a fan of his work. And I really look forward to picking his brains and seeing if he has any advice for me.”

A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.
Directed by Jon Watts, the film stars Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, Michael Chernus, Kenneth Choi, Hannibal Buress, Martin Starr, Michael Barbieri, Angourie Rice, Abraham Attah, Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr.
Spider-Man: Homecoming will be released in theaters on July 7, 2017.
