Square Enix has reportedly lost more than $63 million due to Marvel’s Avengers.

The Avengers game was in development by Square Enix years before the company finally showed off gameplay at 2019’s E3. Marvel’s Avengers was eventually released in September after facing delays. The game received lackluster buzz but will continue to see DLC in the coming months, which will include the addition of Spider-Man, Hawkeye, Black Panther and other Marvel characters.

Taking to Twitter, David Gibson shared that Square Enix reported their losses for its games. While Square Enix wouldn’t share how much it lost from Marvel’s Avengers, it’s estimated that the game has lost the studio over $63 million since the developer revealed that volumes were only 60% of the plan.

Here is the official synopsis for the game:

Marvel’s Avengers begins at A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco — including the reveal of their own helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source. The celebration turns deadly when a catastrophic accident results in massive devastation. Blamed for the tragedy, the Avengers disband. Five years later, with all Super Heroes outlawed and the world in peril, the only hope is to reassemble Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
