During an interview with BBC, Avengers 4 co-director Joe Russo confirmed that the late Stan Lee already filmed his cameo appearance for the Marvel Studios film.
Today, Marvel Comics co-creator Stan Lee passed away at the age of 95, prompting fans across the world to express their sympathies and reflect on his legacy. However, many were wondering if Lee, who famously made cameo appearances in nearly all of the Marvel films, had filmed his role for the upcoming Avengers 4 before his death. According to an interview with Joe Russo conducted in April 2018, Lee shot his Avengers 4 cameo during the same time he filmed his appearances for Infinity War and Ant-Man and the Wasp:
“So, Stan, typically we try to get him out — he doesn’t love to fly — so we try to get him out for his cameos around the same time. So if we have other movies shooting on the same lot that we’re on, for instance Ant-Man 2 or Avengers 4, we group his cameos together and then move him from one set to the next and kind of get him through his cameos in one day.”
Stan Lee is survived by his daughter J.C.
A culmination of 22 interconnected films the fourth installment of the Avengers saga will draw audiences to witness the turning point of this epic journey. Our beloved heroes will truly understand how fragile this reality is and the sacrifices that must be made to uphold it.
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers 4 is expected to star Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Don Cheadle, Tom Holland, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Paul Rudd, Jeremy Renner, Brie Larson, Josh Brolin and Chris Pratt.
Avengers 4 is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 3, 2019.
