Star-Lord & Gamora Still Unsure Of Relationship in ‘Guardians Vol.2’

Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana talk a little about how their characters interact in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Are Star-Lord and Gamora meant to be?

Guardians of the Galaxy definitely had a will they/won’t they relationship between Star-Lord and Gamora, but towards the end of the film it looked like they were finally going to end up together. Unfortunately for Peter Quill, the relationship might not have been as settled as it looked. The trailers made it pretty clear that Gamora still did not hold the same affections for Quill, but now Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana have spoken more in depth about what to expect between their characters in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2.

Chris Pratt let fans know that while the same dynamic is in place from the first movie, it is going to be amped up for Vol.2 (just like everything else).

“I kind of feel like that was there in the first movie as well, you know what I mean? I think any time you take a man and a woman in a movie that are both in a lead position and you put them in the same room, there’s naturally going to be this question of will they or won’t they, you know what I mean? I think that’s pretty inevitable. Unless you really clearly illustrate that either they’re brother and sister, or that one of them isn’t into that type of thing, or whatever it is. If you have two characters of the opposite sex, it always seems like you’re just waiting for them to collide. And so that is dealt with a little more in this version of the movie. And again, we didn’t wanna go back and do exactly what we did in the first movie, so it steps up a little bit.”

Though Pratt explanation makes it seem like Star-Lord and Gamora aren’t really meant to be, Saldana ended her quote on a high note. Maybe they will learn from each other.

“They’re becoming a really good team.  In the way that like oil and vinegar are.  Where it’s good together, it tastes good together.  But they tend to still stick to their own things.  And I think Peter may have gotten a little more annoying.  And Gamora’s just a little too rigid sometimes.  So through the dynamics that are happening around her, she learns to relax.”
