‘Star Wars’ Tie-In Book Reveals ‘The Last Jedi’ Opening Scene Details

Star Wars The Last Jedi Poe Dameron BB8 Paige TicoStar Wars: The Last Jedi will be the first film in the franchise that picks up immediately where its predecessor left off. We already know that we will finally see how Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) reacts to Rey (Daisy Ridley) when she hands him his old lightsaber, but the let’s not forget about the troubles that are afoot for the Resistance.

The Resistance aspect of the story will follow characters such as General Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher), Finn (John Boyega), Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) and newcomers Paige Tico (Veronica Ngo) and Rose Tico (Kelly Marie Tran). Now that the entire state of the galaxy is in chaos after the destruction of Starkiller Base, all Hell will certainly break loose for our heroes.

The highly-anticipated film is just a little over four months away, and with Force Friday around the corner as well as the rest of the marketing beginning to roll out, new details regarding the film will be revealed. In fact, a special tie-in children’s book features a few details regarding scenes featured in the beginning of the film.

An upcoming new Star Wars: Look and Find book will feature two spreads from The Last Jedi. One of them takes place at Ach-To and explores some of the beautiful scenery as well as the inhabitants of the island:

“Starkiller Base is vanquished, but Kylo Ren has escaped. Thanks to Rey and her friends, BB-8 brought Luke Skywalker’s coordinates back to the Resistance. On their behalf, Rey travels to the planet Ahch-To, hoping to enlist Luke’s help. While Rey persuades the last Jedi to join the Resistance, look for these rocky features…”

The book also gives a few details in regards to the Resistance. In particular, Poe Dameron, BB-8 and Paige Tico are involved:

“Meanwhile, Poe is busy doing some persuading of his own. He and BB-8 are making runs through the First Order’s latest assault fleet to clear the way for the Resistance bomber squadron, headed by ace pilot Paige. BB-8 will keep the coordinates straight. You look out for these First Order ships…”

Thankfully, these scenes and details have already been hinted at with the first trailer as well as recent promotional material. Knowing that The Last Jedi finds much of our characters in separate stories, seeing how they may end up crashing into a head sometime in the film will be something really incredible.

Written and directed by Rian Johnson, the film stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Anthony Daniels, Andy Serkis, Benicio del Toro, Laura Dern and Kelly Marie Tran.

8 ‘Star Wars’ Spin-Off Movies We Really Want To See

Star Wars-SagaMay the 4th be with you, everyone! Even on May the 8th! With Star Wars weekend in the rear-view mirror, it’s still a great time to kick back, get out your old glow-in-the-dark lightsaber toys and Darth Vader Halloween masks, and pop in those original trilogy DVDs. Maybe even all 8 currently-released films, if you’re up for the challenge (both mental and otherwise). Speaking of which, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story just came out on Blu-ray, marking the first home release of many Star Wars spin-off movies to come.

Of these, only one future title has been confirmed – Han Solo: A Star Wars Story, to be released in May of 2018. Beyond that, we know Disney had at least two more planned, and probably more down the line. And why not? The Star Wars universe is so ripe for exploration. There are so many characters we were introduced to in the Saga movies that could easily get their own film. And it doesn’t stop there. The legacy of the Jedi and the Sith go back thousands of years, opening up virtually endless possibilities of story material.

Given this abundance of material just waiting to be tapped into, Heroic Hollywood decided to celebrate the Star Wars holiday by compiling a list of the Star Wars stand-alone movies we’d most like to see. While some of the films on this list are more likely to be developed than others, they each share one unifying factor: they’d all be freakin’ awesome!
