Star Wars Celebration Orlando Schedule Revealed

Star Wars Celebration kicks off on April 13th and we just got our first look at the partial schedule for the event. Expect major surprises!

With Star Wars kicking off its annual celebration in Orlando in just a few weeks, fans have been patiently waiting to hear what panels they can attend and what new information will be revealed. Thanks to StarWars.com, we have a partial schedule of the event, which will definitely fuel your hype. You can check out the highlights and the full schedule below.

Star Wars 40th Anniversary Celebration 
April 13th from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm.

Seeing as this year marks the 40th anniversary of Star Wars, the event kicks off on Thursday, April 13th at 11 am. Hosted by Warwick Davis, the panel will focus on the importance the franchise has had throughout the past 4 decades, along with a few surprises. Regarding surprises, expect Mark Hamill and a few other franchise veterans to take the stage. Who knows, maybe even George Lucas himself will make an appearance. Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy is set to appear on stage as well.

The Highlights:

The Music of Rogue One: Analysis with David Collins
April 13th from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm.

Host David Collins will be discussing Michael Giacchino’s score for Rogue One and how it compares to John William’s work in the original films. Music fans will love this in-depth analysis that discusses the musical connections and contrasts between them, how they tackle characters, the tone, and particular scenes.

Doug Chiang: The Production Design of Rogue One

April 13th from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

Doug Chiang, the co-production designer for Rogue One will discuss the production process behind Rogue One. He also served as a concept artist on The Force Awakens. He’s currently the Vice President and Executive Creative Director at Lucasfilm, which means he will be overseeing any design aspects for the franchise, which includes movies, video games, and theme parks. Chiang may drop a few hints regarding the production process for future projects.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi

April 14th from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm.

We know this is the one you’ve been waiting for. Both Kathleen Kennedy and director Rian Johnson will come out on stage to discuss the film and what it means for the franchise going forward. Expect cast members such as Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, and Mark Hamill to grace the stage as well. In addition, we’re hoping to get a teaser, or if we’re lucky, a trailer for the upcoming film.

Star Wars Rebels Season Four Sneak Peek
April 15th from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm.

Executive producer of the show Dave Filoni and a few unannounced guests will give fans a sneak peek at the upcoming fourth season of Star Wars Rebels. Afterwards, there will be a Q&A period.

Marvel Comics Presents: Star Wars

April 14th from 4:00 to 5:00 pm.

Editor Jordan White, Poe Dameron artist Phil Noto, and Poe Dameron and Darth Vader writer Charles Soule will take the stage to discuss what it’s like to write and draw for both Star Wars and Marvel, as well as upcoming plans in the Star Wars comics.

April 13th

Thursday starts off the 40th Anniversary Celebration panel and follows with Billy Dee Williams discussing his career with Warwick Davis. Other events include Ray Park and Ian McDiarmid discussing what it’s like to be a part of the Sith, Dave Filoni and Pablo Hidalgo discussing the animation business, and a musical analysis for Rogue One. Beyond that, there’s the making of the Star Wars Encyclopedia, a trivia game quiz show, Doug Chiang discussing production design on Rogue One, a sneak peek at the Star Wars Disney Parks, and a panel where you can meet the artists who contributed to this Celebration.

April 14th

On Friday, we’ll likely get our first look at The Last Jedi, along with a few plot or thematic details. Warwick Davis will speak about what it’s like to play multiple characters in the franchise, and fans can ask questions as well. A collectibles update will come from LucasFilm’s Brian Merten and fans will get to see the design process behind Lego Star Wars figures and sets. In addition, a panel of Star Wars authors will discuss what it feels like to write for the beloved franchise, and Abrams books will delve into their published Star Wars art books and the legacy of LucasFilm’s art department.

April 15th

Saturday brings us a sneak peek of Star Wars Rebels season 4, Anthony Daniels discussing his role as C-3PO for over four decades, a contest to see who is the best cosplayer, Smuggler’s Revenge, a screening of The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, and The Force Awakens. In addition, Del Rey Books will discuss what they have planned for 2017 and beyond, Pablo Hidalgo and FX Artist Tom Spina will discuss the behind the scenes aspects of the Cantina, Marvel will host a panel on their Star Wars comics and plans for the future, Hasbro will speak about their line of figures, DK authors and illustrators will have a panel.

April 16th

On the final day of the Celebration, Warwick Davis will take the stage to talk about what it’s like to play a droid, ESPN will have the creative team behind the documentary Star Wars: Evolution of the Lightsaber Duel to answer questions and unveil un-aired footage. After that, there will be a tattoo competition. And finally, there will be closing ceremonies to close out the event.
