It seems that once Star Wars had something very different in mind for Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren as newly released concept art shows a different mask and an overall more unsettling aesthetic for the villain.
The image in question came from the official Star Wars Instagram account. In the caption, it is explained that the image is, in fact, an early version of Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren. The image shows Kylo Ren in a mask that isn’t too different from Darth Vaders, with red eyes and with the chin area further out from the rest of the face. In addition, his chest also seems to be modified with some kind of robot upgrades as does his right hand. The art also seems to show Kylo Ren talking to Darth Vader’s helmet.
