Rogue One story writer Gary Whitta revealed an unused idea he had for Darth Vader in the first Star Wars standalone film.
Disney and Lucasfilm launched the Star Wars anthology film series with Rogue One, an epic space-opera that centered on the group of rebels who stole the plans to the Death Star and paved the way for the Rebellion to dismantle the Galactic Empire. During the closing moments of the film, Darth Vader relentlessly pursued the rebels who received the transmission containing the plans and slaughtered many of them before their spacecraft managed to escape.
The famous corridor scene is one of the memorable sequences in Rogue One, but Gary Whitta revealed that he initially proposed a slightly different rampage for Darth Vader. As Whitta explained on his official Twitter account, he envisioned a scene in which Darth Vader arrives on the beach of Scarif to unleash carnage after the Stormtroopers are unable to break through the group of rebels surrounding the Imperial tower.
You can read Whitta’s full post on the alternate Darth Vader scene in the post below!
Rebel ground troops bunkered in around the Imperial comms tower on Scarif, stormtroopers can’t break through to get to Jyn who’s on her way to transmit plans. Vader says “put me on that beach.” Carnage ensues. You ended up seeing something like that in the corridor scene though. https://t.co/vvQKGPSgDr
