Production on Jon Favreau’s upcoming live-action Star Wars series is set to begin very soon, and according to a report from MakingStarWars.net, Lucasfilm’s animation guru Dave Filoni will be one of the directors for the upcoming episodes for the first season of this highly-anticipated series set in the galaxy far, far away.
The report claims that Filoni may be directing the first episode of the season and may even one of the directors to have two episodes under his belt.
Filoni is most known for his work with three major animated series set in the galaxy far, far away that consists of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels and the upcoming Star Wars Resistance. Many fans of the franchise have praised his approach to the franchise, especially since he has been considered to be a Padawan to creator George Lucas.
The series is set to take place between the events of Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, and is heavily rumored to be following the Mandalorians after the fall of the Empire.
2019 is shaping up to be a massive year for the galaxy far, far away. Obviously, the release of Episode IX – the final chapter in the Skywalker Saga is going to be a major priority for Lucasfilm given that they are coming off the heels of the successful, yet polarizing reception to The Last Jedi and the disappointing box office numbers of Solo. But along with Episode IX, a brand new season of The Clone Wars will premiere on Disney Direct.
Are you excited to see what Jon Favreau brings to this new series? Would you like to see Dave Filoni serve as a director on some episodes? Given that he is a massive fan of the franchise since childhood as well as his talents as a storyteller, he is certainly a perfect fit for this brand new series.
