Production Weekly has confirmed the working title of Diego Luna’s upcoming Star Wars series centered on Cassian Andor.
Lucasfilm’s plans for the Star Wars franchise include a Disney Plus series centered on Cassian Andor, the Rebel Alliance intelligence officer who led the unit that stole the Death Star Plan in Rogue One. Set before the events of Rogue One, the Cassian Andor series will see Diego Luna reprise his role from the film.
Last year, a rumor claimed the working title for the Cassian Andor series was going to be “White Snake.” Now, Production Weekly has confirmed the working title to be true in a listing posted yesterday.
Joining Diego Luna in the Disney Plus series is Alan Tudyk, who reprises his Rogue One role as K-2SO. The Americans producer Stephen Schiff serves as showrunner on the Cassian Andor series, which is expected to begin filming this year.
Here is the official synopsis for Rogue One:
From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars standalone films, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” an all-new epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.
Directed by Gareth Edwards from a screenplay co-written by Chris Weitz and Tony Gilroy based on a story by John Knoll and Gary Whitta, Rogue One stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, with Jiang Wen and Forest Whitaker.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is now available on Digital HD, Blu-Ray, and DVD while Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor prequel series is expected to be released on Disney Plus in 2021.
