Based on the latest set photos and details to emerge from the production of Star Wars: Episode IX, it seems the final installment of the sequel trilogy could be going back to Jakku.
A Reddit user in the Star Wars fan community, YenaMagana, managed to get some photos of the set in Wadi Rum, Jordan. While Abu Dhabi originally doubled as Jakku in The Force Awakens, and Jordan served as Jedha in the spin-off Rogue One, YenaMagana spotted several speeders on the set including one that looked like Rey’s speeder. In addition, YenaMagana managed to get shots of cut-outs of aliens in the desert, as well as a city of tents that wouldn’t look out of place on Jakku. You can check them out below.
The film stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, Billie Lourd, Naomi Ackie, Richard E. Grant, Keri Russel, Matt Smith, Dominic Monaghan, Anthony Daniels, Billy Dee Williams, and Mark Hamill.
Star Wars: Episode IX hits theaters December 20, 2019. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on the future of the Star Wars franchise as we learn it.
