Star Wars The Mandalorian Baby Yoda J. J. Abrams Taika Waititi Jon Favreau Bob Iger Disney coronavirus Frank OzStar Wars actor Frank Oz recently weighed in on the popularity of The Mandalorian character who the internet has decided to call Baby Yoda.

Frank Oz, of course, provided the voice for Yoda in all of the live-action films as well as providing the puppeteering work for the character’s non-CGI appearances. First appearing in Star Wars: Episode V- The Empire Strikes Back, the character was a powerful Jedi Master who has somehow survived The Empire’s purge of his order. The character would go on to play a major part in the Star Wars prequel trilogy and would make minor appearances in the Star Wars sequel trilogy.

When The Mandalorian first aired, fans were shocked to discover that a major part of the show’s plot involved a character known as The Child who happened to be a member of Yoda’s race. The Child, better known as Baby Yoda, is one of only three members of Yoda’s race who has appeared in live-action. However, Frank Oz himself doesn’t have much involvement with the character.

While speaking to IndiWire, Frank Oz revealed that he had nothing to do with The Mandalorian character, Baby Yoda, and didn’t even seem to know much about him at all:

“I have nothing to do with Baby Yoda. But I heard it’s very cute, and I’m sure Disney has a whole plan for it.”

He then stated that, while he loved doing Yoda he worries that people will only know him for doing that particular role:

“I love doing Yoda. The only thing that bothers me is if people think that I only do Yoda. That’s not a good feeling.”

What do you all make of Frank Oz’s words? Are you surprised to hear that he had so little to do with Baby Yoda? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
