Han Solo is about to get some company in the Star Wars: Han Solo spin-off movie. According to The Wrap, Lando Calrissian will be appearing in the highly anticipated film! Calrissian was first portrayed by Billy Dee Williams in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, but this version of the character will obviously be younger.

“The Cloud City cassanova was originally played by Billy Dee Williams, and the current code name in casting circles for young Lando is “Chance” — perhaps a reference to the character’s appreciation of cards and dice.”

As previously reported, Alden Ehrenreich will be playing the role of Han Solo. During Star Wars Celebration Europe, director Chris Miller spoke about how incredibly challenging it was to cast Solo. Miller and Phil Lord saw over 3,000 actors for the role. Ehrenreich screen-tested with Chewbacca and aboard the Millennium Falcon.

Directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller from a script by Lawrence Kasdan and his son, Jon, the Han Solo anthology movie is currently set to hit theaters on May 25, 2018. Are you excited that Lando will be a part of this film? Plus, who would you like to see in the role? As always, be sure to sound-off your thoughts in the comment section below.

Mayimbe is obliterating the scoop game. I’m really liking the few things that have been revealed about the spin off, I’m really looking forward to this. I really hope they end up making the boba fett spin off.

  • Micheal O’Brein

Give it to Michael B Jordan, we all know hes gonna get it anyway!!! (deservedly so! hes the best)

    • Victor Thomas

Love Jordan but Donald Glover is perfect for this role.

      • Micheal O’Brein

Dont think Disney are gonna give a role this important to Glover, hasnt really done anything this big and any major productions hes in are minor characters a la the Martian, Homecoming, (admittedly we dont know how big of a role this is but i wud wager its somewhat meaty) Jordan just has more star power …. plus imagine him in that sweet cape!

        • Victor Thomas

Umm did you see Rey’s and Finn’s filmography before force awakens? Plus Glover has done 5 seasons of a prime time show, multiple episodes of popular shows like 30 rock and girls, made multiple short films, has been in multiple hollywood films like Alexander’s horrible day, Magic Mike, Lazarus Project, the martian, spider man etc. and is the creator, producer, writer and star of a major network. That’s more than a lot of people who are in big movies nowadays including the new Han solo himself.

          You’re extremely misinformed.

Seriously, I’ve been waiting to play this role. Who/how can I get a shot, don’t currently have an agent?

    • Victor Thomas

I don’t know if this is a serious post but this is a serious reply I work on hollywood sets, you don’t need an agent necessarily especially at first. An agent helps when you are somewhat known but you being an unknown doesn’t really matter. My piece of advice is study/practice this character’s & actor’s mannerisms and style immediately as well as taking professional photographs. Do that everyday until the casting sheet comes out which will have the casting/audition dates, times and location as well as contact information for the casting agency use that to send them professional pictures and videos(in character and out) study voice, dialect, hand gestures, eye coordination etc. it might sound silly but remember if you are taking this serious there is probably 30-60 actors who will be in serious contention for this job and will actually have reels for the casting agency to look at but if this is something you want foreal go for it. If you need help/advice, let me know.

Thank you for the advice. I have acting experience and head shots, none in character. I’ve also been studying that dude since I first saw “LADY SINGS THE BLUES”. My concern was doing an “impression” of him, not sure that’s a good thing. I’ve been thinking something along the lines of the actors in the recent “STAR TREK” movies.

        • Victor Thomas

You definitely don’t want to do an exact expression of him but with casting directors they like people with less limitations so making a audition tape that captures the essence of the character but injecting your personality would be ideal but again you’ll be up against some top talent so kinda go for gold even though it might be an audition tape,do a few variations of the character and edit it into a reel so that way you have a better chance. Also show up to the audition regardless if they contact you or not just be be prepared with your tapes, photos etc.
