‘Star Wars’: Hayden Christiansen Reveals His Own Dislike Of Sand

Many people dislike the Star Wars prequels for very valid reasons. The portrayal of Anakin Skywalker by Hayden Christiansen has always been controversial with some people thinking he had no chemistry with his co-star Natalie Portman, and seemed too emotional to one day become the fearsome Darth Vader. However, many have also pointed out that a lot of the disdain for Christiansen should really be focused on the script itself. Perhaps the most egregious examples of the poor writing is when Anakin attempts to make an analogy with sand in Episode II. Here it is if you somehow forgot:

During Star Wars Celebration, Christiansen was interviewed by Disneyland Experience and was asked a number of questions about his time with the franchise. Christiansen has not been a part of Star Wars since Episode III in 2005, so he has not commented on a lot since then. However, the interviewer (and fans) had a little fun with Christiansen when they asked if he shared his character’s dislike for sand. He responded with a laugh and said:

“Well you know, it’s not very smooth. It doesn’t really stay in one place, so I’m not such a big fan of it myself although if it leads to the water I can tolerate it. But Anakin came from a desert planet so I understood his contempt for it.”

Forget about wondering who Supreme Leader Snoke is, now we finally know how Hayden Christiansen feels about sand! In all seriousness though, it was nice for Christiansen to attend the celebration and be able to poke fun at himself a little bit. Check out the full video below:
