It wasn’t that long ago when we heard new details on a few details for Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi via the shareholder’s meeting that Disney held a little over a week ago, but it already seems like we’re getting some new information about our first big look at what’s in store for us.
The skinny on the details from Star Wars News Net are that a source told them that three shots are going to be present in The Last Jedi‘s first teaser – the first being an establishing shot of an exotic city, the second being that a new design of X-wing (or a similar ship) flying over a blue planet, and the third being that there will be some kind of procession taking place. Presumably, this city is going to be the one that the location of Dubrovnik, Croatia was used for. The presence of updated X-wings is also interesting – the models we saw the Resistance use in The Force Awakens were T-70s, but the Expanded Universe has noted that T-85s are what the Republic military actively uses. Lastly, the presence of a procession is certainly interesting – SWNN notes that there was speculation early on that (SPOILER ALERT!) there was a chance that one of the scenes filmed in this location was a funeral service for Han Solo. Given that Carrie Fisher apparently visited the Dubrovnik set, there’s a chance that this could indeed play out that way if Leia is there to say a few words for her departed husband. The procession is also said to be a dinner, but the general atmosphere described is not said to be particularly cheery, as everyone present was dressed in black.
Hopefully, we won’t have long to wait before we get to see this footage for ourselves. The teaser is rumored to drop either on the first day of next month’s Star Wars Celebration Orlando or the second, as these days will have major panels discussing the 40th Anniversary of Star Wars and The Last Jedi respectively.
