Star Wars: ‘The Mandalorian’ Showrunner Compares Show’s Scale To Original Film

It seems that Jon Favreau’s upcoming Star Wars show, The Mandalorian, has a bit more in common with the original film then you might think but in a different way then you would ever expect.

While speaking to James Cameron for Directors Guild of America, Jon Favreau revealed that The Mandalorian has a relatively lower budget and the upcoming series reflected that. He also reminded people that the original film was also a relatively low budgeted affair but the people behind it were still able to do something special:

Since I wrote most of [The Mandalorian], I wrote it to fit within our volume, and in trying to keep the scale of it like the first Star Wars film, which was a relatively low-budget affair, even though the effects were spectacular.

From the sound of things, The Mandalorian may have less spectacle in it then other Star Wars installments.

What do you make of Jon Favreau’s comments? Are you looking forward to a more grounded Star Wars series? Should they be big effects-driven spectacles or nothing at all? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
