‘Star Wars’: ‘The Mandalorian’ Press Site Reveals Name Of Werner Herzog’s Character

The Mandalorian press site revealed the identity of Werner Herzog’s character in the upcoming Star Wars series.

The Star Wars franchise is set to expand with the release of The Mandalorian, a new series produced for Disney’s upcoming streaming service. Set in between the events of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the series will introduce several newcomers to the universe, including a mysterious character played by acclaimed German filmmaker Werner Herzog.

Of course, details on Werner Herzog’s character remain a mystery, though previews for the Star Wars series reveal he will have significant contact with the eponymous Mandalorian. Now, an official press site for The Mandalorian includes a photo of Werner Herzog’s character that credits the filmmaker-turned-actor as “The Client.”

Here is the official synopsis for The Mandalorian:

After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.

The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Swallow, Carl Weathers, Omid Abtahi, Werner Herzog, and Nick Nolte. The series was written by Jon Favreau, who also serves as an executive producer alongside Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson. Karen Gilchrist is also on board as a co-executive producer.

Dave Filoni will direct the first episode of the series and additional episodes will be helmed by Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi, Jurassic World star Bryce Dallas Howard, Dope director Rick Famuyiwa, and Jessica Jones director Deborah Chow.

The Mandalorian will premiere exclusively on Disney Plus on November 12, 2019.
